A Sore Neck and Legs

Two little boys.

Two completely different symptoms.

But the same nasty bug.

Xander said his neck hurt last night.

"But on the inside."

Talmage has had fevers for a week and constantly complained of his legs hurting. 

I figured it was just the fever, but it still creeped me out.

I had visions of a leukemia diagnosis or something else just as bad.

I might have gone a little overboard thinking of that, but hey-

I'm a mom. 

Worrying about our kids is what we do best!

Anywhoo-

We thought Talmage was better Wednesday. No fever. Ate everything in sight. Caused all sorts of mischief around the house (smiling the whole time, of course). No complaints of sore legs.

  However...

The bug wasn't ready to give up yet. 

The fever came back. 

And now big brother X wasn't feeling so hot.

So today, it was off to the Doctor.

A yucky cotton swab test, and...

Five minutes later...

STREP.

Yep.

They both have it.

*****

But why did Talmage just complain about his legs hurting, not his throat???

Still haven't figured that one out yet!

 

 

Small But Not Insignificant

 

 

These little snowflakes were no larger than a pencil eraser. I just happened to glance down at the base of my car window before turning the ignition.

Mesmerized. 

I must have looked at the flakes for about ten minutes. Each was so beautiful, so unique.

A thought crossed my mind.

As people, are we any different than these little snowflakes?

We have all been created by the Master. 

 We are all beautiful.

We are all unique.

Derby Day

Kalvin completely designed the car himself.

He sketched the shape on the wood block.

He decided on the graphics and drew them on himself.

He chose the black and gold paint.

He had Dad put all the weight in the back of his car.

He helped polish the axles.

Some cars were faster. Some cars were slower.

BUT-

 It was HIS car.

He won the "Night Rider" award.
